Port Lavaca Mayor Jack Whitlow and County Judge Michael Pfeifer (not in picture) signed joint county and city proclamation declaring March 17, 2012 and every 3rd Saturday of March hereafter All Calhoun County's Cultures and Cuisines Parade of Ancestors Day. Retired Police Chief Pena poses with Mayor and local historian Mary Belle Meitzen, dressed as a Cherokee ancestor and choreographer Ann Smith, dressed as an Asian rice farmer. Proclamation signing Feb 20, 2012 coincided with the anniversary of the La Salle's landing on the county's shores in 1685
