Women In Time Change History

There will be at least 13 different cultures' cuisines served on Main Street in Port Lavaca Texas Saturday, March 17, 2012

Check back with us.  We are all volunteers and amateurs from a small seaport in Texas, none of us very cyber savy, but we like to eat, dress up in costumes at least once a year (sometimes more) and ask questions about each others' ancestors.  We're having a good time pulling this together.  Who's your favorite ancestor?  If you don't have one, adopt your favorite character from the past and join the parade.  It begins at 11 AM.  We promenade and then mill around on the 3 blocks of our funny old Main St, sampling each others' grandparents music and food.

Upon what shall we feast?
The following in no particular order, are confirmed as of Thursday

Irish Soda Bread, corned beef and cabbage, by Kelly Wildes

Egg rolls, fried rice, spring rolls (unfried), Vietnamese sandwiches by  Asian Cuisine

Grilled beef, corn or flour tortillas and pico de gallo by the Noon Day Lions

Southern tea cakes by Earlene Hamilton

Chili and corn bread by Betty Hicks

New Orleans dirty rice by Sabrina Harris

Fajitas and Mexican candy by Hernandez Artisiana

Turkey legs and potatoes by Vic Franka of Texas Traditions

Soul food stew, chicken and dumplings, peach cobbler, and Slushies by B. Barefield

Hot dogs and cold drinks by Band Boosters

Well, well, well, Since the above was posted, local chefs, professional and amateur have  confirmed the menu hereby posted.  Do not eat before you come!  Nothing offered on the street will cost more than $5.00.  No alcohol on the street.  Please patronize our restaurants licensed to serve beer and wine.
